Smarter Off-Grid EV Charging

Capstone Green Energy returns for its fifth season within the NTT INDYCAR® SERIES as a partner of the No. 29 Andretti Steinbrenner Autosport Honda piloted by exciting sophomore driver, Devlin DeFrancesco. Hailing from Toronto, twenty-three-year-old Devlin has always been in a hurry, just ask his mom, Cathy, who gave birth to him an incredible fifteen weeks early! You read it right. He went from speeding into the world as a one-pound baby boy that could rest in the palm of your hand to speeding through the streets, superspeedways and permanent road courses comprising the INDYCAR calendar. Cheers to a great racing season, and to Devlin, we’re behind you all the way (though at a slower pace by about 175 miles per hour).
“Having a partner like Capstone Green Energy on the No. 29 Andretti Steinbrenner Honda, we have learned a great deal about the importance of working together to push the limits of sustainability and clean energy. By coming together at Texas Motor Speedway to power Andretti Autosport hospitality, they are doing exactly that. Being able to offset and neutralize the carbon emissions put out by all four Andretti Autosport cars for the entire race weekend is not only an impressive undertaking, it also opens the door for conversation and education around Capstone capabilities and the impact their technology can have,”
Julia Steinbrenner, Owner of Steinbrenner Racing.
Just like in our partnership with Andretti Steinbrenner Autosport, Capstone Green Energy is passionate about helping businesses #ShiftToGreen faster, meet their carbon reduction goals and answer the need for reliable power and improved facility efficiency. Capstone’s portable and permanent power systems offer a compact, modular, efficient, and environmentally friendly solution for powering a wide range of applications, including EV charging. These systems, provided by Capstone Engineered Solutions, are powered by Capstone Green Energy microturbines, a highly reliable, efficient technology that produces clean energy, and generates power when utility power is not available or utility service is delayed.
No need to rev those old diesel generators with Capstone in the race! These versatile systems can be integrated into the grid or used for remote or off-grid locations, making them ideal for powering electric vehicle (EV) charging stations. Such reliability and efficiency are particularly beneficial for fast DC charging, which not only reduces the amount of time required to charge an EV, it also effectively increases range.
Capstone’s low emission microturbines can be fueled with RNG or hydrogen, along with more traditional fuels, so charging can be 100% renewable, helping to minimize their impact on the environment – an attractive option for organizations looking to reduce carbon footprint.
Every hour of downtime at a food and beverage manufacturing plant can mean thousands of dollars in lost production. Capstone’s resilient Microturbine solutions are ideally suited for food and beverage manufacturing operations that require a reliable onsite power solution. Capstone customers benefit from clean electricity and thermal energy that can be harnessed for space heating, cooling, or generating steam.
Every hour of downtime at a manufacturing plant can mean thousands of dollars in lost production. Capstone MicroTurbines® are ideally suited for industrial combined heat and power applications that require large amounts of electricity and heat. The microturbines are fuel flexible and scalable from 15kW–10MW. Non-stop power means round-the-clock production and uncompromised performance.
When operating a mission-critical facility, power reliability is paramount. Disruption in a hospital’s power supply can compromise patient care, damage sensitive equipment, jeopardize research data, and adversely affect accreditation.
In addition to producing low-emission electricity onsite, many hotels use waste heat from Capstone MicroTurbines® to create heating and cooling to dramatically reduce energy bills and increase energy efficiencies. Today, luxury hotels and resorts worldwide rely on Capstone microturbines in combined cooling, heating, and power applications to maintain guest comfort and uphold five-star standards.
Waste materials buried in landfills biodegrade over time to produce methane, carbon dioxide, and other waste gases. Many sites flare these waste gases – or worse – vent them directly into the atmosphere. Capstone Renewable (CR) microturbines cleanly burn waste gases to generate renewable onsite electric and thermal power in a clean, economical, and environmentally beneficial way.
Capstone MicroTurbine® systems conserve energy and cut operational costs by creating two forms of energy – electricity and heat – which makes them ideal for combined cooling, heating, and power applications. For large energy consumers like residential buildings, onsite microturbines ensure an uninterrupted power supply at a rate more affordable than the power grid – an equation for comfortable residents and a manageable energy bill.
Clean-burning Capstone MicroTurbines® convert waste gases into renewable power. The Capstone Renewable (CR) microturbine line is designed to operate on methane gas and other waste gas fuels created from the treatment of domestic wastewater. Using Capstone microturbines, a wastewater treatment plant can harness the energy potential of waste biomass to generate reliable renewable power in a clean and cost effective way.
Perfect for both manned and unmanned platforms, Capstone MicroTurbines® offer rugged, low cost, dependable, set-it- and-forget-it operations that maximize platform performance and minimize downtime risk. Reliable Capstone microturbines operate on pipeline or unprocessed wellhead gas (economic or flare; sweet or up to 7% sour). Capstone microturbines are dry systems with no oil, lubricants, coolants, other hazardous materials, or even water, which eliminates the transport, storage, and costly hazmat spill/leakage issues of engine gensets.
Sporting venues can present unique challenges for operators. High intermittent peak loads, varying thermal loads make Capstone Green Energy solutions an ideal fit for a stadium’s needs. A properly sized solution provides cost reduction, reduced emissions and can be sized to carry critical loads in the case of a power failure. In addition to permanent solutions Capstone can provide temporary power solutions for all kinds of events, including concerts, special sporting events, emergency shelters. Systems can be configured to fit any circumstance and the fuel can be clean burning natural gas or renewable biogas.
